This is fun

1. Reply to this post and I will make you a 5-10 song playlist from my iTunes library.
2. If you like the list, I'll send you the songs that you don't have.
3. They can be any songs that I relate to you. That doesn't necessarily mean your favourite song but songs that make me think of you. I'll include a sentence or two, telling you why I picked that song.
4. No more than 2 songs by the same artist.
5. When I'm done, I'll save the playlists on my iTunes/iPod under your name and think of you when I play it.
6. If you get a playlist from me, repost this and do it for your friends!

what fun! i love how certain songs con remind you of a time in your life, a person, a smell, an experiance, etc. there are songs i hear that i could tell you what i was wearing when i first heard or bought the cd. awesome i say!

I don't think I have enough songs in my iTunes library to choose 5 that remind me of someone. Either that, or I'm way too vain to think of other people.

Come to think of it, I'm only commenting because I'm so vain, I believe you have around 5 songs in your library that remind you of me. :)

I shall get to you all, but first Ashley because she tried to comment and it didn't go through, and then blogspot was down for a little while.

1. Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates-- Aquabats
This song is what really bonded us on SPAC and made us fall in love, so to speak. There's even a video of it, even though only my hands are in it, really. The excitement hasn't ceased since then.

2. Town Meeting Song-- The Nightmare Before Christmas
Obviously this reminds me of you, particularly because (I'm pretty sure you said) it's your favorite from the movie. Remember when we fell asleep watching it while eating piles of cookies with Greg? I do too.

3. Sh-Boom-- The Crew Cuts
If you would tell me I'm the only one that you love, life could be a dream sweetheart (Hello hello again, sh-boom and hopin' we'll meet again)

4. Apologize-- One Republic
Enough said.

5. Almost Lover-- A Fine Frenzy
You only just barely suggested this to me last week or something but I love it so much and I'm going to forever associate it with you. How do you feel about THAT?!!

i hart you lovey! good memories of May 2005 (buying piles of cookies at Albertson's and coveting your Josh Groban bumper sticker on your car) all the way to a couple of weeks ago! yay.

Amy--
1. Toxic-- Britney Spears
Hello. You + Me + Wayne = listening to this song a billion times on our way to DI in the middle of the schoolday for no reason. Fantastic.
2. The Ugly Bug Ball-- from Summer Magic
...you like bugs. *shrug*
3. The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room-- Flight of the Conchords
You had BETTER love Flight of the Conchords, missy!! This reminds me of you for no reason other than I feel like you should love them. Assuming you don't already, which is unlikely, I'll be honest.
4. The Final Countdown-- Europe
I watched Arrested Development for the first time in your basement. I am forever grateful.
5. My Skin-- Natalie Merchant
Go with me on this one... This is off her album "Ophelia" and if I remember correctly (which I do) there was a lengthy Hamlet study group held at your house.
6. Brave Sir Robin-- Monty Python
Because it's funny.

Awww Amy! I miss you!

Mandy (Eliza, feel free to keif these if you'd like to expand your own playlist. Heh)--

1. Disney's Electrical Light Parade
Doi. You guys love Disney. All you Oblads do. I think its requisite for being born/marrying into the family. But really-- why do I just have this image of your boys dancing around to it like little crazy persons...?
2. Lemonade-- Chris Rice
It's such a happy, sunny song. You rarely post about anything glum and seem like such a genuinely happy person. I think life DID give you lemonade:)
3. Skies So Blue-- The Rocket Summer
Once again, because this is a happy song. And honestly, I'm shocked it's taken me this long to put a Rocket Summer on someones playlist... Iloveitloveitloveit.
4. Christmas Time is Here-- Sarah McLachlan feat. Diana Krall
If all you've got is Mickeys Christmas going, ADD THIS IMMEDIATELY. Not only is it an adaptation from my beloved A Charlie Brown Christmas, it's so deliciously smooth and exactly what Christmas should be.
5. You Can Call Me Al-- Paul Simon
There is no reason for this song to be on this list other than the fact I love it very much. It's good for all kinds of things, like something to dance to while you vaccuum (I've done it), drive, or if you need a new nickname.

Julie--
1. The World is Not Enough-- Garbage
Ever since you were that Bond Girl-- at a party I didn't even GO to!-- part of you just oooooozes this song. Work it, girl.
2. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
In rehearsal the other day, Julie G. and I could NOT get over our memories of your directing this piece for the choir and then the cast. Your direction lives on.
3. The Lady of Shalott-- Loreena McKennitt
Somehow I think this embodies you a little bit. You've got a bit of a dream-like quality to you and your outlook on life-- in a completely admirable way, because you're also quite realistic. It's that very juxtaposition that's in this poem/song.
4. I'm Shy-- Once Upon a MattressI
If this song isn't you, I don't know what is. The end.
5. She's a Fine Mama Jama-- Carl Carlton
Summized in one line of lyrics: "She’s foxy, classy, oh, sexy, sassy." This song is good for working out, cleaning your kitchen, and having dance parties with your cute pre/teenaged daughters.

Eliza (Mandy, feel free to keif these if you'd like to expand your own playlist)--

1. Every Little Thing She Does is Magic-- The Police
It just makes me want to get up and dance. Doesn't it make you want to dance? Go 'head. No one's watching, and if they are, they'll just want to dance with you.
2. The Boob Fairy-- Deirdre Flint
This is in no way a comment about you or your own relationship with the illicit Boob Fairy. It's simply an entertaining song that reminds me of you, and that is, after all, what this game is about.
3. This is Halloween-- Panic! At the Disco
I so also want to say the Marilyn Manson version reminds me of you, but it doesn't. It's way too hardcore for a cute mom with four boys, even IF it's a Disney song. The P!@TD version though is such a fun adaptation of the classic. My favorite part is when it goes "Everybody scream! Everybody scream!"
4. Driftwood-- Travis
I. Love. Travis. If you don't, you should. I don't know that the lyrics pertain particularly to you, but it's such a great song that you will like. Or maybe already do. Whatever. Also, Jim loves Travis and shares his iPod earbuds with Pam so they can listen together.
5. Free-- Shawn McDonald
Christian rock without being irreverent and without being too EFY. Very catchy and very fun. And with a good message! What do you know!

@emllewellyn said...

PS. Please note, you silly readers! An iPod is not necessary to enjoy the benefits of iTunes (and, subsequently, these short playlists) on your computer:)

Mandy said...

ok so my project his weekend is to download al these songs since most of them i have never heard, or maybe i have it just has been so long i have forgotten.
oh and This Is Halloween is Dereks favorite song. when he was a baby it was the only song that would shut his crying face up. really. it was forever on repeat in my car/house. it still calms him down to this day.
fun post emily!

Ashley O said...

mandy! you must get the P!@TD version .... A.SAP!

@emllewellyn said...

Definitely P!@TD. Also Marilyn Manson, but that one isn't quite so effective when soothing crying children...

Ms. Julie said...

I love the list you made for me! Thanks! I feel all warm and fuzzy now. And I need the mp3s for songs 1, 3, and 5, since I don't have them. :)

You're the best!

Mandy said...

Wow, Em, you have a gift for tagging people to songs. (Who would have realized that gifts like that exist, but they do. And you have it!)
If you have time to make a list for me, I'll see what I can do to make a list for you after my life calms down. (Oh, wait...um...kind of calms down?) :)
